Zero Art Garden
A VR garden for kinetic sculpture. Place a few blocks with your hands, and they repeat into a spinning ring you can walk around, then print.

The Curiosity
Kinetic sculptures are hypnotic and almost impossible to prototype: the interesting ones are big, balanced and made of metal. In VR, none of that costs anything. What if you could sketch one with your hands, watch it turn, and then take it home?
The Build
Zero Art Garden is a VR app for Meta Quest, controlled entirely with hand tracking. You place blocks into a small build area. The app repeats them in a circular pattern that rotates around a larger ring, so a handful of decisions becomes a sculpture that moves. The garden around it is deliberately calm.
Every sculpture can be exported as an STL file, which means the thing you made in a headset can come out of a 3D printer as an object on a shelf. That export is the reason this entry carries the fabrication tag: it is the first project in the workshop that ends in the physical world.

The Result
Released on the Meta Quest store, where it still is. It is one of the pieces we are fondest of: a game engine used to make art, with a way out into the real world.
What We Learned
Repetition is a generous collaborator. Give people a small, forgiving input and a rule that multiplies it, and almost everyone makes something they want to keep.
